Contrabass and sub-contrabass bars from SUZUKI and EMUS. Each is a single large bar on its own resonator box, bought individually by note rather than as a set.
Contrabass bars are available in A, B, B♭, F, F♯ and G. Sub-contrabass bars go lower still, in C, D and E. Together they sit below the bass xylophones and metallophones and give an Orff ensemble its deepest voice, usually holding a bordun while the rest of the group plays above it.
Because they are sold one note at a time, a program can start with the two or three notes its repertoire actually needs and add more later. Most classrooms begin with a C and a G.
These bars need heavy contrabass mallets rather than standard bass mallets, and those are stocked separately, along with bass bar mounts and screws.
