Collection: Sound Healing & Music Therapy

30 products

Instruments for sound baths, meditation, music therapy and relaxed group playing: singing bowls, steel tongue drums, handpans, wind chimes, ocean drums, kalimbas, rainsticks, seed shakers and frame drums.

Everything here shares one quality. It sounds good the first time somebody touches it, with no technique, no lesson and no wrong notes. That is the whole requirement in a room where the people playing did not come to learn an instrument, and it is what separates these from the rest of the catalogue.

The tuned instruments do it by construction. SATORI steel tongue drums and handpans have their notes cut or hammered to one scale, so anything played on them fits together. Kalimbas work the same way, with tuned tines laid out so a thumb landing anywhere produces something that sounds deliberate. Singing bowls come in five sizes with a cushion and mallet, and are struck or rimmed for a long sustained tone.

The untuned instruments do it by sounding like something other than music. Ocean drums roll steel beads across a head to make a wave. Rainsticks let beads fall through pins for a long falling wash. Pangi seed shakers rustle rather than rattle. Frame drums, including the octagonal and buffalo models, give a low breathy note that carries a room without being loud.

These are used by sound practitioners and yoga studios, in care homes and seniors programs, in hospitals and palliative care, in sensory rooms and classrooms, in community drum circles and in music therapy sessions. Every one is chosen for ease of play, durability and warmth of tone, and most suit players of any age or ability.
