Brazilian percussion from IZZO, made in Brazil, for samba ensembles, bateria drumlines, world music programs and carnival groups.

The tamborim is the small, high, cutting drum that sits on top of a samba texture. IZZO stocks it in ABS and in aluminum, both in a choice of four colours, and it is played with a multi-prong plastic stick rather than a single beater. Double and triple prong sticks are stocked separately, and which one you use changes the pattern considerably.

The repique is the drum that calls the bateria in and cues the breaks, carried on a belt and played with one hand and one stick. Aluminum models come in two sizes and there is a ten inch wood version.

The caixa malacacheta is the shallow snare carried high on the chest, providing the constant sixteenth-note bed the rest of the group locks to. Surdos, the large bass drums that carry the pulse, come in twenty and twenty-two inch with ten tuners.

The tantan and rebolo are the hand drums of pagode and samba de roda, played seated with the fingers rather than sticks. Pandeiros, nylon shoulder belts and surdo belts complete the section.
