Shipping Update: Canada Post Strike
This post explains how the Canada Post strike affects deliveries and what Empire Music Co. is doing to keep orders moving for schools, institutions, individuals, and stores.
FAQ
Are Canada Post orders still moving?
No. During the strike, Canada Post is not processing or delivering parcels. Some items already in the network may sit until service resumes.
Will courier rates change?
We continue to charge a flat shipping fee based on order total, and our rates will remain unchanged during this period. Please note that delivery times may be longer than usual, as alternate couriers are experiencing higher volumes.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. In-store pickup is available and will save on shipping. Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
What’s going on
- On September 25, 2025, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers initiated a nationwide strike at Canada Post.
- Mail and parcels are not being processed or delivered while the strike is in effect. Service guarantees are suspended.
- Negotiations are ongoing; Canada Post tabled updated offers on October 3, 2025. No final agreement yet.
What this means for your order
- We will not be delivering parcels through Canada Post for the time being.
- Expect higher volumes across private couriers, which can affect transit times and rates.
- Remote and institutional addresses may face added constraints; we will route accordingly based on reliability and speed.
Our solution
1) Alternate carriers
We are temporarily shipping with commercial couriers such as Canpar. We will choose the best option per destination and provide tracking as soon as it leaves our warehouse.
2) In-store pickup
Local customers can pick up orders at our location to avoid shipping delays and costs. Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
What you can do
- Use In-Store Pickup if you are within driving distance. We will notify you when your order is ready.
- Order earlier than usual during the strike period to protect event and classroom timelines.
