Collection: Bass Xylophones

5 products

Bass xylophones from SUZUKI and EMUS, the lowest xylophone voice in an Orff ensemble. Bass instruments carry the bordun and the harmonic foundation underneath the alto and soprano parts, and most programs add one once the middle range is covered.

All models here are diatonic 16-bar instruments in C major with F♯ and B♭ bars included. Bars are noticeably wider and longer than alto bars, and the resonator box is correspondingly deeper. Wooden models use rosewood or padauk. Fibreglass models come in natural brown, white and rainbow.

A chromatic add-on is available for the SUZUKI bass xylophone. Bass mallets are heavier than alto or soprano mallets and are stocked separately, along with individual replacement bars.
