Collection: Specialty Recorders

Recorders and related wind instruments that sit outside the standard soprano-to-bass range, for programs that have covered the basics and want somewhere to go next.

Sopranino recorders from AULOS are pitched an octave above the soprano, bright and very small, in both fingerings, with the Kleine Sopranino smaller still.

The AULOS Haka models take their shape and voicing from a historical instrument and come in soprano and alto, in plain or wood-grain finish.

Multi-piece models split into more sections than a standard recorder, so the hand positions can be set differently. They are used where a standard body does not suit a player's reach or grip, and are available in soprano and alto.

The flauto traverso is a moulded transverse baroque flute, held sideways like a modern flute and fingered more like a recorder, which makes it a natural bridge for a recorder player moving toward flute. Two models are stocked, including the Stanesby Junior.
