A cajon is a box the player sits on and strikes with the hands. Hitting the centre of the front plate gives a low bass, and hitting near the top edge gives a crisp snare-like crack, so one instrument and one player cover both ends of a groove. That is why it turns up wherever an acoustic group needs rhythm without volume taking over the room.

The bass-port models have a hole cut in the rear panel, which lets the low end out and gives the deeper thump. The pop-off napa head model lets the front plate be changed, and it ships with a bag.

Junior cajons are built lower so a child's feet reach the floor, which matters more than it sounds, since a player who cannot sit properly cannot reach the playing surface correctly either.

Finishes include plain black, a natural wood bass-port model, and four sarong patterns. The NINO bongo cajon is a smaller box shaped to be played on a lap or a table rather than sat on.
