Collection: Glockenspiels

11 products

Glockenspiels for elementary music classrooms and Orff Schulwerk programs, in soprano and alto. Empire Music carries SUZUKI glockenspiels, made in Japan, and the EMUS range.

A glockenspiel uses small, thin steel bars and sits an octave or two above the rest of the Orff ensemble. The tone is bright, clear and carries easily over xylophones and metallophones, which is why glockenspiels usually take the melody line or a decorative part above it. They are also the most compact of the bar instruments, so they suit small rooms, instrument carts and take-home practice.

All models here are diatonic, supplied as a C major set with F♯ and B♭ bars. Chromatic add-ons are available for the SUZUKI soprano and alto models.

Individual replacement bars are stocked for all four instruments, SUZUKI and EMUS, soprano and alto. A single lost or dented bar does not mean replacing the glockenspiel.

Glockenspiel mallets are small and hard, usually rubber or plastic, since steel bars need a firm head to speak clearly. Mallets are sold separately.

B-stock glockenspiels appear here alongside new stock.
