Jingles that are not tambourines: worn on the foot, the heel, the fingers or mounted on a base.
MEINL foot and heel tambourines strap to the shoe or slide onto the heel, so the jingles sound on every step. That leaves both hands free, which is why they turn up with guitarists, singers and anyone leading a group while playing. Four models are stocked, including a compact version and a professional heel tambourine.
Finger jingles are worn on the fingers and tapped or shaken. MEINL makes them in aluminum and in stainless steel, and the two sound distinctly different, the aluminum lighter and drier and the steel brighter with more ring.
The SUZUKI BARcussion jingle sits on a key base rather than being held, so it stands on a table and is played with one hand. That makes it usable by a player who cannot hold and shake an instrument at the same time, and it frees the other hand for something else.
