Simple wind instruments for sound effects, storytelling and early years music, where the point is the sound rather than the melody.

Slide whistles use a plunger to bend the pitch up and down. Bird calls include an owl whistle in four sizes, a bamboo loon whistle and a bamboo bird slide whistle, each producing a recognisable call. The wooden train whistle is multi-chambered and sounds a chord.

Kazoos are stocked in metal and plastic. Because a kazoo is hummed rather than blown, a student who cannot yet get a note out of a recorder can still carry a tune on one, which makes it a useful leveller in a mixed group.
