Collection: Tubolos & AirDrums

23 products

The full Groove Masters Percussion composite range in one place: AirDrum djembes and tubolos, in every size, finish and tuning we carry.

Both share the same construction. Composite shells, fibreskin heads and a vent in the base that keeps the drum sounding when it is played flat on the floor rather than tilted. Neither goes out of tune when the weather turns, which is the main reason programs choose them over carved wood.

The difference is shape. An AirDrum is goblet-shaped like a djembe, with a wide head narrowing to a waist, and it gives the familiar bass, tone and slap. A tubolo is a straight-sided tube with a narrower head, and it speaks higher and drier, with a shorter note that cuts through a group.

Tubolos come stackable, so a set nests down into the footprint of one drum, and lug-tuned, so pitch can be set and reset with a key. Three-piece tuneable sets give a low, middle and high voice together. AirDrums come rope-tuned and lug-tuned, and as three-piece nesting sets.

Finishes across the range are Ocean Blue, Baliku Chocolate, Abstract Orange, Caribbean and Gold and Black, so a mixed group can still look like one family.
