These Suzuki mallets are made for alto xylophone and metallophone, and are sold as a pair. The yarn winding is medium-hard, enough attack to speak clearly on alto bars without the brightness a bare rubber or plastic head would give. The handles are maple.
Suzuki builds one mallet for each voice: MAL-1 for soprano, this one for alto, MAL-3 for bass.
