Cosmetic Imperfection Discount
All ukuleles undergo a full inspection by our in-house luthier. Instruments that meet our performance standards but show aesthetic irregularities—such as discolouration, small scratches, dents, or other minor finish aberrations—are categorized as “cosmetic imperfections” and offered at a discount. Each uke is brand new, fully prepped before shipping, and unaffected in tone, durability, or playability. Blemishes vary from one instrument to another. All cosmetic-imperfection sales are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Beautiful craftsmanship, using the highest quality woods. The Soprano ukulele is considered the standard size, closest to the original Hawaiian ukuleles. Each Classic ukulele is hand-inspected and set up by an experienced technician - Just tune it up and play!
The top, back, sides and neck are made from laminate African Sapele wood. A hardwood fingerboard with precision frets. Comes with deluxe machine heads. All Classic Ukuleles are fitted with high-quality Aquila Super Nylgut strings.
All of our ukuleles are inspected and tuned before shipping.
Professional Ukulele Prepping
Every ukulele at Empire Music is inspected and adjusted by our in-house luthier before it ships. This ensures the instrument arrives stable, comfortable to play, and ready for long-term use.
Why It Matters
Wood reacts to humidity and temperature changes. Instruments built in warm, humid climates can shift when shipped to cooler, drier regions. Proper setup prevents issues with tuning, comfort, and performance.
What We Do
- Fret Dressing: Smooths any sharp fret edges caused by wood contraction.
- Nut & Peg Adjustment: Ensures stable, consistent tuning.
- Saddle Setup: Sets proper string height for clean, comfortable play.
- String Pre-Stretching: Helps Aquila strings hold tuning sooner.
- Cosmetic Review: Screens for finish issues; substandard units are rejected.
- Playability Test: Tuned and test-played to confirm tone and feel.

Climate Note
Prepped in Vancouver’s moderate humidity. Wood may shrink in very dry regions or expand in humid ones. Store your ukulele in a stable environment to maintain long-term playability.
