The sound from these unique instruments is generated by moving the drum so that the vibrations of the spring are transmitted to the head, creating a musically interesting sound that is a cross between a Cuica, a thunder sheet, a gong, and the roar of a lion.

Hold the drum horizontally (as if throwing a dart) with the spring dangling away from the head. Waggle your hand slowly or energetically for different and amazing sound effects.
